Charles Edgar Sloan, “Chuck Junie” as he was better known, was born in Louisville, Kentucky on September 22, 1946 to the late Charles Edgar and Ruth Ella Sloan.He was educated in the Jefferson County Public Schools and continued his education at Morehead State University.He returned to Louisville to serve as one of the most well-noted band directors at Male High School.He also worked a part-time job that led to successful career with Sears and Roebuck as a buyer for the company’s furniture division. After he could no longer stand the wintery, windy weather of Chicago, IL, he moved to the Atlanta area where his worked for Rhodes Furniture, the Coca-Cola Company, and Rooms-To-Go furniture store.His strong work ethic and drive to succeed played a major role in his ability to live a happy and comfortable life. Charles departed this life on March 20th at his home, surrounded by his family, after a long struggle with heart conditions. Charles was predeceased by two brothers, Eric and Clarence Sloan and a two brother-in-laws, Louis Mudd and Lawrence Lewis.He leaves to cherish his three sisters, Marcella, Earlene, and Diane, one sister-in-law, Barbara, four brothers; David, Roderick, Kennard, and Dwayne; all of Louisville, KY.He also leaves three children; Dion (Stacie) of Louisville, KY, Whitnee (Brandon) of Powder Springs, GA,and Wade (Taime) of Chesapeake, VA., two granddaughters, ten grandsons, one great-grandson, a host of nieces and nephews and many special friends. His faith in God was strong. The life he lived made a tremendous impression to all who he came into contact.His memory will never be forgotten.
