Wesley E. Wood Sr., a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on November 1, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on February 14, 1948, in Atlanta, Georgia, Wesley led a life filled with passion and devotion to his family, his work, and his faith.
After a long and fulfilling career with the Norfolk Southern Railroad, Wesley embraced retirement, allowing him more time to indulge in his hobbies and interests. A true automotive enthusiast, he had a particular fondness for fast cars and ATVs, often expressing his adventurous spirit through these passions. Music was another significant aspect of his life; he enjoyed playing the guitar and bass guitar, sharing his love for melodies with family and friends. Above all, Wesley was a man of faith, loving God and regularly attending church, where he found strength and community.
He is survived by his children, Wesley E. (Sherry) Wood Jr., Nicholas Wood, and Shelly (Adama) Brannon, who all carry forward his legacy. Wesley was a proud grandfather to three grandchildren: Wesley Wood III, Tyler Wood, and Christopher Wood, whom he cherished deeply. He also delighted in being a great-grandfather to Mason, embracing every precious moment with his growing family.
Wesley is remembered fondly by his siblings, John "JT" Wood and Louis Wood, who shared countless memories and experiences with him. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Jane Wood, as well as nine siblings, who will be waiting to welcome him into eternal peace.
Visitation and funeral services to honor Wesley's life will be held on November 12, 2025, at the Roy Davis Funeral Home in Austell, Georgia. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by the funeral service starting at 6:00 PM. Wesley will be laid to rest with honor at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia, on November 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM.
