Tonya M. Wertenberger, 50 of Anniston, AL, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2021. She is survived by her husband of more than 32 years, Thomas Wertenberger; daughters and sons-in-law, Ashley & Joel Morrow Jr. of Anniston and Amber & Aaron Shipman of Mechanicsville, MD; son, Austin Wertenberger of Anniston; father, Jimmy Shirey, Sr. of Bowdon; granddaughter, Arielle Michelle Morrow of Anniston; lifelong friend, Jay Evans of Tallapoosa and close friend, Conny Trejo of Carrollton. Tonya was born in Carrollton and lived in West Georgia all of her life before moving to Anniston in January, 2020. She was a 1988 graduate of Haralson County High School and received a Business Office Technical Degree from Carroll Tech. She worked in the jewelry department of the Bremen Walmart for 19 years. There she developed lasting friendships with co-workers and customers. A devoted wife and mother, Tonya loved her husband and kids. She taught them to be loving and caring and how to care for others. She always enjoyed spending time with them, and being Guma to her grandbaby broughtmore joy to her life. A funeral service will be held at 5:00 pm, Saturday August 28, at Roy Davis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.
