Robert Lee Cox, 78, of Lithia Springs, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. He was born on May 8, 1948, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late John Burton Cox and Ada Lee Lindsey Cox.
Robert was the kind of man who walked into a room and immediately made it better. Loud, outgoing, and completely genuine, he loved people and made sure they knew it. He was the life of the party - not because he was trying to be, but because that's simply who he was. He had a gift for caring, and he gave it freely to everyone around him.
For over fifty years, Robert owned and operated Cox Heating and Air, serving his community as both owner and technician. He was skilled and dependable, but what set him apart was his heart. He had a particular soft spot for elderly couples - going out of his way to handle their HVAC needs and whatever other small jobs needed doing, often without a second thought about the return. That was Robert.
Robert was a proud member of American Legion Post 264 and AmVets Post 118, both of Lithia Springs. He loved his Harley, the open road, and living fully - which he did without apology. He was a traveler at heart who spent his years steadily working through a bucket list most people only dream about. The crown jewel was Alaska - the trip of a lifetime, by his own account - and he lived long enough to cross nearly everything else off the list as well.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his siblings: Bertha Robertson, Elbert Cox, Joe Cox, Tammy Ethridge, and Albert Cox. He is survived by his beloved wife of 11 years, Connie Sue Wigley; his daughters, Becky Dowell, Pamela Ewing, Patricia Hughes (Doug Lewis), and Priscilla Weems (Gary); his sister, Ann Garrett (Jerry); eleven grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; bonus children, Derrick (Heather), Brittiney (Casey), and Anthony; bonus grandchildren, as well as a host of extended family and cherished friends.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at Roy Davis Funeral Home from 12:00 - 2:00pm.
Funeral services will be held immediately following the visitation in the Chapel of the funeral home at 2:00pm officiated by Wetzel "Petey" Davidson, Jr..
Interment will be held at Riverview Memorial Park and Gardens with Michael Weems, Jeremy Weems, Bradley Jeffries, Tim Dowell, Ryan Adams, Chris Hayes, and Lamar Hayes serving as pallbearers.
Robert Lee Cox lived seventy-eight years with his foot on the gas and his heart wide open. He will be profoundly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
