Mary Frances Pittman, born March 8, 1939, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, in Canton, Georgia, at the age of 86.
She was the devoted wife of the late Bernice Hovis Pittman and the proud mother of three sons—Michael, Gary, and Greg. Although only Gary survives her, she carried the memories of all her boys with deep and lasting love.
Mary Frances was sharp, sassy, and endlessly independent. She never met a stranger and had a gift for storytelling, often sharing vivid memories of her childhood and family. She loved cheering on the Braves, rooting for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and watching NASCAR. A warm Southern comfort meal was one of her favorites, and she rarely missed her 7 o’clock tradition of watching Wheel of Fortune. She always had a book in hand, often flying through a dozen or more in a single month. In her final months, she found peace and joy watching Little House on the Prairie on repeat. Most of all, she knew and loved the Lord, and her faith remained steady through every season.
She was deeply loved by many, including her grandchildren— Shane Pittman (wife, Leah Pittman), Delaney Turner (husband, Ben Turner), and Stephanie Pittman—and lovingly remembered her late grandson, Brian Pittman. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Bryanna Pittman and Jayden Pittman (wife, Miracle Thomas Pittman). She is lovingly remembered by her daughter-in-law, Lisa Rhodes Pittman (wife of the late Greg Pittman), Lisa’s children, Austin Rhodes and Aria Beam (husband, McKenna Beam), and their son, Adley Kai Beam.
Mary Frances is also survived by her brother-in-law, Guyton Pittman, sister-in-law, Patsy Pittman, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Nita Pittman, wife of her son Gary, whose memory she held close to her heart.
We will remember her as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend—sharp-witted, full of heart, and steadfast in her love for her family.
