Mary Jane Copeland

Mary Jane Copeland, 86 of Henderson, Nevada, passed away on September 22, 2021. She was born in Sylvania, Georgia on September 11, 1935, the youngest daughter of Phillip and Sallie Jane (Jackson) Johnson. She is survived by her grandchildren, Carlos Kent, Lisa Ruiz, Maurice Kent, Tiffany Howard and Christopher Kent, and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Willie Joe Kent, and her brothers and sisters, Major Johnson, Lula Morris, Maggie Kilcrease, John Johnson, Lilah Chisolm, Emma Givens, Lillie White, Willie Johnson, James Johnson, and an infant sister. Family was important to “Big Ma.” She was very sweet and funny, always had a kind word and always willing to help anyone. She liked to travel and to go out to eat. In 1978 Mrs. Copeland joined Chapter 148 of the Order of the Eastern Star. It was an important part of her life and she enjoyed attending the conventions and dressing up for the formal balls. Funeral services for Mrs. Copeland will be held Saturday, October 2, at 1:00 pm at Roy Davis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 11 am until funeral time.Burial will follow at Powder Springs Memorial Gardens.
