It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Genie Mae Prater, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Genie Mae was born on Sunday, February 25th, 1945, in Atlanta, GA, and peacefully departed this life on Saturday, February 8th, 2025, in Mableton, GA, where she resided for many years.
A woman of deep faith, Genie Mae found joy in attending church and was often found playing the piano, her fingers dancing across the keys as she sang her favorite hymn, "The Holy Hills of Heaven Call Me." Her love for music was only rivaled by her passion for thrift shopping, where she delighted in finding hidden treasures.
Genie Mae's kitchen was the heart of her home, where she lovingly prepared meals for her family. Sunday dinners after church were a cherished tradition, a time for family to gather and enjoy the feast she so lovingly prepared.
She is survived by her children, Gary Cronan, Eugeneia House, Lisa Pace, and Enoch Prater, who will carry forward her legacy of love and kindness. Her memory will also be cherished by her seven grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and several other family members and friends who were touched by her warmth and generosity.
Genie Mae was preceded in death by her father, Newgene Beck, her mother, Era Mae Beck, her beloved spouse of 39 years, Bobby Prater, her son Eugene Cronan, and her siblings. Their reunion in heaven is a comfort to those she leaves behind.
The family extends their gratitude to Roy Davis Funeral Home for their compassionate care and assistance with the arrangements.
Genie Mae Prater's life was a testament to love, faith, and family. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide her loved ones, as they hold her memory close to their hearts.
