Gail Burnley Thompson, beloved grandmother, mother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on January 25, 1946, Gail lived a life rich in love, faith, and community, leaving behind cherished memories for her family and friends.
She was a retired medical transcriptionist and attended the Church of the Apostles. She spent her church days playing the piano and singing in the choir. Her faith guided her, providing a foundation of strength that touched those fortunate enough to know her. Gail found immense joy in life's simple pleasures, including peaceful walks that allowed her to appreciate the beauty of her surroundings. Her family will remember her fondly.
She is survived by her son, Bruce Thompson, and his wife, Patcharin. Gail was a proud grandmother to four grandchildren: James Thompson, Jenna Thompson, Juliana Thompson, and Brett Thompson, and delighted in her role as a great-grandmother to Jack, Josie, and Atlas. She also leaves behind her sister, Claudia Garrison, along with several other family members and friends whose lives she touched with her kindness and warmth.
Gail was preceded in death by her parents, James and Jewel Burnley, as well as all five of her siblings. Although she has departed us, her memories live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A visitation will be held on August 9, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Roy Davis Funeral Home in Austell, Georgia. This will be followed by a funeral service starting at 12:00 PM, with burial taking place at 2:00 PM at New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery in Rockmart, Georgia.
Gail's gentle spirit and unwavering faith will be deeply missed, yet her legacy will continue through the many lives she touched. May she rest in peace.
