Frances Colleen Stieglitz, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 31st, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on July 4th, 1939, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Collie Haywood Litton and Gertrude Long Litton, Colleen was a beacon of strength and love throughout her life.
Residing in Austell, GA, Colleen was known for her unwavering dedication to her family and her remarkable work ethic. After the untimely passing of her husband, Frank Hogue Stieglitz, 49 years ago, she embraced the role of a single mother with grace and resilience, raising her two children, Amy Colleen Stieglitz and James Frank Stieglitz, with love and devotion. She often reminisced about the joy of raising her children, never once complaining about the challenges she faced.
Colleen had a passion for musicals, with "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" being her favorite. She cherished her travels to the mountains in the fall and the beach in the spring and summer, finding peace and joy in nature's beauty. Her love for animals was evident in her care for her pets and all creatures great and small. Painting wasn't just a hobby it was a passion that allowed her to express her creativity and heart.
She is survived by her children, Amy Colleen Stieglitz, James Frank Stieglitz, daughter in law Angela Marie Stieglitz, and her cherished grandchildren: Colleen Hurst, Alan Echols, Alexander Echols, Christopher James Stieglitz, Jessica Nichole Bragg, Amber Michelle Stieglitz, and Wanda Shynae Perkins. Her legacy continues through her 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, who will carry forward her spirit of independence and strength.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Hogue Stieglitz, granddaughter Frankie Suzanne Stieglitz, and her siblings, Charles Litton, Betty Cox, Maggie Ruth Litton, and Carolyn Echols.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2026 from 5:00 - 7:00pm at the funeral home.
Funeral services for Mrs. Stieglitz will be held 11:00am Wednesday, August 5, 2026 from the chapel of Roy Davis Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mozley Memorial Gardens with Jared Hurst, Alan Echols, Lucas Hurst, Kyle Bragg, James Stieglitz, Jerry Morrow, Chris Stieglitz, and Mikie Hughes serving as pallbearers.
Frances will be remembered for her love of family, her indomitable spirit, and her unwavering kindness. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
