Daniel "Danny" Hicks

Daniel (Danny) Hicks of Horseshoe Beach, FL passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024. Danny was born August 1, 1938, in Canton, GA to Lee Roy (Pick) and Pearl (Lowrey) Hicks.

Danny owned his own construction company and worked as a heavy equipment operator in the construction field for more than 40 years.

He made his home in Austell, GA until retirement when he relocated to Horseshoe Beach, FL. He enjoyed restoring an old boat, fishing, and owning and operating Elsea’s Fish Camp.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Roy E. Hicks, daughter Renee Cates, and grandson, Shane Dooley.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Elsie along with his children, Connie (Stan) McIntyre, Keith (Christine) Hicks, & Cindy (Mark) Hunter and Marina (Dennis) Miller & Rusty (Kristi) Helton.

He was “pawpaw” to his grandchildren, Meghan (Deven) Rush, Jessi (Coleman) Madison, Daniel (Courtney) McIntyre, Kelli (Nick Curtis) Cross, Christopher McIntyre & Michelle (John) Gentry, and Tasia Beck, Brian Helton, & Amanda (Jackson) Parker. He was great pawpaw to Allison, Will, Lilly, Jackson, Grayson, McKennon, Kylie & Brynleigh and Surae, Serenity, & Dean. He was also an uncle, a cousin, and a friend to many!

A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, September 14 from 11:00am until 2:00pm at Mulberry Rock Park, 1849 Mulberry Rock Road Dallas, GA 30157. A private family service will be held at a later date in Horseshoe Beach, FL.
