Connie Hotaling, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished community member, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the age of 78. Born in Ashtabula, Ohio, on May 20, 1948, Connie's life was a testament to her vibrant spirit, dedication to family, and unwavering commitment to her community.
Connie's early years were marked by her exceptional talent as a custom cake decorator, a skill that brought joy and delight to many. Her organizational prowess shone brightly as she managed the concessions for Ashtabula, Ohio’s Midget League football during the late 1970s and 1980s, creating lasting memories for young athletes and their families.
After relocating to New York, Connie continued her journey of service by overseeing the activities department at the nursing home within Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Her dedication to helping others was further exemplified when she earned her Associate's Degree in Human Services from Niagara County Community College, showcasing her lifelong pursuit of learning and personal growth.
In 1992, Connie and her beloved husband, Donald, made Smyrna, Georgia, their home. It was here that Connie truly flourished as an avid and cherished volunteer at the C. Freeman Poole Senior Center. Her engaging personality and leadership qualities quickly led her to become a valued member of the center's council. In 2009, her lively spirit and talent were celebrated when she was crowned "Senior Idol" at the center's annual talent event.
Connie's love for collecting antiques and advertising memorabilia was a testament to her appreciation for history and nostalgia. Her legacy of kindness, creativity, and community service will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Connie is survived by her loving children, Melissa Gillespie (James Gillespie), Jeffery Hotaling and his wife, Paula, and Robert Hotaling and his wife, Kim. She was a proud grandmother to Thomas Armol, Amanda Golmon, Phillip Golmon, Caira Hotaling, and Madison Hotaling, and a doting great-grandmother to Landon Golmon, Nathan Golmon, Mason Golmon, and Declan Armol.
The Hotaling family has entrusted arrangements to Roy Davis Funeral Home in Austell, GA. Connie's life will be celebrated on a later date , honoring her remarkable journey and the indelible mark she left on the hearts of those she loved.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Connie's memory to the C. Freeman Poole Senior Center, ensuring her legacy of community service and joy continues to inspire others.
