Clifford Frazier Mitchell, 81, of Austell, Georgia, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026. Known to everyone as Frazier, he was born on January 14, 1945, in Austell, to the late John Mitchell and Mary Maglee “Glee” Hyde Mitchell.
Frazier was a plumber by trade, building his livelihood through M & M Services, his own plumbing company. He was a man who worked with his hands and took pride in it. But as much as he loved his work, it was everything outside of it that truly defined him.
Frazier loved the outdoors — fishing, hunting deer and turkey, and riding dirt roads with no particular destination in mind. When he was home, you’d likely find him parked in front of an old western, Gunsmoke being the gold standard in his book. He was a NASCAR fan, a road tripper at heart, and had a special appreciation for a casino whether it was the destination or just a stop along the way. His children remember their childhood as a rolling adventure — always heading somewhere, whether to one of Dad’s spots on the lake, a stretch of mountains, or wherever the weekend pulled them. Frazier had a gift for finding a reason to go somewhere, and the people he loved were always glad he did.
He was famously nosey — in the best possible way. He always wanted to know how you were doing, what you were up to, and what was going on in your life. It wasn’t gossip; it was genuine, wide-open love for the people around him. Above all else, family was Frazier’s passion. He had love by the bushel for his, and he gave it freely and without measure.
In addition to his parents, Frazier was preceded in death by his sisters, Evelyn Stephens and Lavern Hamilton, both of Mableton. He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Pat Mitchell; his children, Shannon Agan, of Carrollton, Tammy Dee Nixon, of Austell, Hugh Mitchell (Elaine), of Dallas, Heath Mitchell (Lisa), of Carrollton, and Brian Mitchell (Michelle), of Rome; twenty grandchildren; forty-eight great-grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Frazier Mitchell lived eighty-one full years — working hard, wandering freely, and loving deeply. He leaves behind a family that stretches across five generations, each one a testament to the man he was. He will be profoundly missed.
