Carolyn Chafin Poss

Carolyn Chafin Poss, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on November 25, 1935, in Danville, Virginia, Carolyn embraced life with a spirit of generosity and warmth that touched everyone around her.

Carolyn dedicated a significant part of her career to serving as an accountant for Ft. McPherson military base, showing her commitment and dedication until her last days, working alongside her colleagues at Jim Evans and Associates. Her professional life was marked by diligence and integrity, earning her great respect among her peers.

Beyond her career, Carolyn found joy in her hobbies and community involvement. Her love for gardening reflected her nurturing nature, as she cultivated not only plants but also relationships within her community. An active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Hiram, Georgia, Carolyn was deeply involved in church activities, notably helping with Celebrate Recovery, where she offered support and guidance to those in need.

Carolyn will be remembered fondly by her loving children, Bill (Julie) Chafin, James Chafin, and Joe Chafin, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Matthew Chafin, Nicolette Chafin, and Dr. Liam Chafin. Each of them carries a piece of her legacy in their hearts.

She is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 25 years, Joel Poss, and her brother Frank Pitts Jr., who along with Carolyn, has left an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew them.

As we remember Carolyn, we celebrate her unwavering spirit, her commitment to family, and her passionate engagement with her community. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
