Barbara Ann Brooks, 71, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2026. She was born on January 18, 1955, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Helen E. Hogan Brooks and the late James E. Brooks. She grew up in Mableton and was a graduate of South Cobb High School.
Barbara had a grace about her from an early age — she modeled in her younger years, carrying herself with a poise that never really left her. She went on to build a steady and dependable career as a Customer Service Representative with Northwest Plumbing Company, from which she eventually retired.
At home, Barbara was in her element. She loved to cook — just about anything — but her German Chocolate Cake was legendary, and her American Chop Suey (which she affectionately called Pasta Shells) was a family staple. She tended her indoor plants with care, and loved being outside to keep a watchful eye on the birds — cardinals, hummingbirds, and bluebirds holding a special place in her heart — and was devoted to her dogs, Red, a Pit Bull/Blue Tick mix, and Rosey, a Blue Heeler, who were her constant companions. She was a Georgia Bulldogs fan and cheered for the Atlanta Falcons back in the day with equal loyalty.
She is survived by her son, Thomas Cory Kuzniacki; her mother, Helen E. Hogan Brooks; her brothers, David A. Brooks (June) and Michael E. Brooks (Sheri); her sister, Patricia A. Brooks; her beloved dogs, Red and Rosey; as well as nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a host of extended family and cherished friends.
Barbara Brooks was the kind of woman who made a home feel like one — something always on the stove, birds at the window, dogs at her feet, and room for everyone she loved. She will be deeply missed.
